While Airsoft is a game, it is not something to be treated lightly. Under the wrong circumstances, if proper safety precautions are not taken, serious injury can result. Goggles, long-sleeved shirts, and gloves should be worn at all times, and Airsoft guns should be treated with respect by everyone involved. As the old adage goes, "It's better to be safe than sorry."
Protective Gear
Good eye protection is crucial in Airsoft gaming. Without it, the potential to lose an eye or sustain other serious eye injury is there. Make sure you buy goggles that can withstand the impact of Airsoft BB's. Test the goggles before use by shooting them with the types of guns you will be playing with. To be even safer you might check out full facemasks or gear to protect your entire head. They can be found at sporting goods outlets and paintball stores. And no matter what, never remove your face protection while playing. It only takes a fraction of a second for the unthinkable to happen.
While the rest of your body should not sustain any serious injury from playing Airsoft, it is probably a good idea to wear long-sleeved shirts, full-length pants, and boots. Try to cover as much skin as possible because there is always the possibility that the impact of an Airsoft BB on an exposed part of the body can break the skin.
Whenever outside the playing zone always keep your weapon's safety on. (You can also get barrel plugs for extra protection.) This will prevent accidental discharge and possible injury of players who have their protective gear removed.
